Saturday 10th May Bells Piece Horticulture Open Day. Again a very popular event held every year at Bells Piece Horticulture, Hale Road, Farnham. Many local conservation, interest and wildlife organisations, cafeteria, games, with garden plants at bargain prices from this popular horticulture charity. The weather was not to good with several showers during the day, but all in all an interesting day. We took the display stand and relevant leaflets to show the public the work of our volunteers and tell them about the park, generating quite a lot of interest.
Sunday 6th July Brickfields Country Park Annual Fun Day. Held in the park, Boxalls Lane, Aldershot, featured this year the Farnborough All Stars Cycling Club, with a "Cyclo-cross" and cycle skills course, where youngsters tried their skills against the cycle obstacle course and got advice on riding safely. All the usual attractions including Bouncy Castle, tombola, kiddy rides, cake stall, hot and cold refreshments, quizzes, wildlife displays and stalls from local environment groups and more.
We were sponsored again this year by The Hire Center, in St. Josephs Road Aldershot, who kindly help out with a large diesel generator to provide the electricity for the Fun Day. Without the help of local companies we would at times be unable to do some of our work in the park and also stage events like the Fun Day. Our grateful thanks go to them.
